, the umbrella organization formed by
the community for the community to fight
K.I.G.
KIG is a proposal to obliterate a
massive area of green space in mid Kent
with a four million square feet
industrial estate.
In the days following the announcement
of the proposal local outrage at this
monstrous proposal was so great that new
opposition groups were springing up
almost daily. STOPKIG.org
brings together Bearsted & Thurnham
Society, SaveBearsted.com,
SaveBearsted.org and others to form a
group which aims to be THE channel for
opposition to KIG. The objective is to
ensure that efforts are not duplicated
or wasted but are coordinated for
maximum effect.
STOPKIG.org
has a small steering committee with an
independent chairman and representatives
from the founding bodies. Sub groups are
being created for: research & analysis;
legal; campaigning & community liaison;
political liaison and treasury.
STOPKIG.org
is an inclusive organization which wants
to include everyone and is keen to hear
from anyone with time, expertise or
information to contribute.
